Within this series, RESISTANCE is a sculpture about what the artist believes is necessary in the current political environment. For the artist, ladders are intrinsically beautiful objects and represent a striving for spiritual advancement. Sometimes the spiritual path is one of quiet resistance. Various aspects of the sculpture are symbolic. The width of the sculpture, 165”, is the divine mean (1.618) of its height 102”. The seven ladders are intentional. The number seven has significance in various cultures and belief systems and in a spiritual context, seven is considered a sacred number.

“A Room of One’s Own” is titled after the famous Virginia Woolf book which at its most fundamental level makes the point that a woman must have a room of her own to be creative. A Room on One’s Own was first published in 1929 from a series of lectures Virginia Woolf presented to the women’s college at the University of Cambridge. In its day, it was a strong feminist statement and it resonates almost 100 years later.

"The Crooked Path" sculpture reflects the very nature of life itself with its twists and turns and challenges that test us. As Helen Keller courageously said "the bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn."
In the fall of 2019,the artist went on an art seminar to the Orkney Islands. There she was struck by the magnificence of the megalithic structures. It inspired the Orkney Islands printmaking series. In the fall of 2024,the artist went on art seminar to Ireland, where she saw more megalithic structures. On the plane ride home, she sat next to a man from county Waterford, which is where her parents are from. The gentleman informed her that there are megalithic structures in Waterford so when EILEEN returned to New York, she searched online for them. Interestingly, the first photo to pop up was a shape that was eerily similar to a stone sculpture she had begun months earlier. It took her breath away, and she wondered what mysterious forces were at play here.
